Turkish Clothing Manufacturers Association (TGSD) was founded in 1976 to prepare required environment for development of ready wear industry in Turkey, to pioneer the sector, to introduce it abroad and to provide sectoral cooperation. Today, TGSD has nearly 400 members all of which are the leading firms of the sector.

16th Board presided by Ahmet Nakkaş is formed of 24 members. General secretary office working with General Secretary Mehmet Kumbaracı ensures that the decisions taken by the board are applied. There are International Relations and Research Department, Accountancy Department, Department of Relations with Members, Public Relations Department and Data Processing Department within the structure of the association. Also it directs the sector by conducting works for short, middle and long term targets of the sector with various workgroups.

Since its foundation TGSD has been conducting many activities for development and progress of ready wear and textile sector, carrying out international lobbying for the sector to be on top ranks in the world platform, developing solutions for problems and working for ready wear manufacturing to proceed from being subcontractor to brand creating position while it has aims to make Anatolia the production centre of the world and to make Istanbul one of the most important fashion centres. With its belief in synergy to be created by cooperation, TGSD has gathered sector associations and formed IF Council and pioneered organization of IF (International Istanbul Fashion Fair) Fair.
